Oscars 2007..Best Dressed

The year’s biggest fashion extravaganza is now officially over. Oscar’s red carpet delivered all of the glitz and excitement that we’ve all come to expect over the years. As per usual, this year the red carpet runway was a showcase for some good old fashioned Hollywood glamour. Here are my picks for the ten the best dressed ladies of the evening.

Portia de Rossi
Actress and girlfriend of Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi looked smoking hot as she walked Oscar’s red carpet runway. She looked like a goddess with her elegant navy Zac Posen gown, with rope details around the halter neck and the back. Did we mention the low-cut back that lead right down to her toned posterior?

Maggie Gyllenhaal
New mom Maggie Gyllenhaal was definitely out to show off her slamming post-baby body. Wearing a snug navy and black gown by designer darlings Proenza Schouler that flattered her newly svelte figure, the actress proved she has what it takes to make a sensational fashion statement on the red carpet.

Rinko Kikuchi
Rinko Kikuchi, who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for Babel, ended her red carpet losing streak on her big night. While she was one of the only actresses that chose black on this year, she made the right choice with this slender, glittering Chanel couture gown that featured a floral motif throughout.

Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman is one of those leading ladies that never disappoints on the Oscar red carpet. She arrived looking like a vision of elegance in her body-hugging, vibrant red Balenciaga gown with giant bow at the neck. On any other actress the dress would not work, but because she’s built like a runway model, she looked striking.

Reese Witherspoon
This dress is what the red carpet is all about. Wearing a show-stopping purple gown, with a ruffled train, by Nina Ricci, the hottest single mother in town stole the red carpet. With a dress like that, all she needed to complete her red carpet look was her bare neck and long gorgeous locks.

Gwyneth Paltrow
Mother-of-two, Gwyneth Paltrow made a splendid return to the red carpet in a fabulous body-hugging coral gown by Zac Posen. The Oscar winner’s entire look, including her pin-straight hair, was pure uptown girl sophistication. And let me just say, mad props to her for pulling off that shade of coral.

Penelope Cruz

First time nominee Penelope Cruz looked like the perfect sweet confection as she brought back a hint of vintage Hollywood glamour. Wearing an elaborate nude coloured Versace gown, that featured a full, ruffled skirt, the actress once again proved why she is considered the red carpet pro. The actress topped off her picture perfect look with a low ballet bun, Chopard diamonds and sexy Jimmy Choo heels.

Kate Winslet
Wearing a pale green Valentino gown Kate Winslet looked incredibly elegant as she floated down Oscar’s red carpet. The one-shouldered dress was the perfect choice for the five-time nominee. Winslet topped off her sophisticated look with a pair of Rickard Shah heels.

Beyoncé Knowles
She may have been snubbed by Oscar, but the diva proved again that she is the queen bee on the red carpet runway. Wearing a flowing sea foam-green Armani Privé gown with beaded detailing across the front, the singer looked absolutely glamorous. There is simply no question about it. Beyoncé definitely makes it to the top yet again.

Cate Blanchett
Best supporting actress nominee Cate Blanchett once again went metallic on the red carpet, turning up in a sparkling gunmetal grey one shouldered gown by Armani Privé. The glittering gown featured jewel detailing on the shoulder and along the bottom of the gown.
