Oscars 2007..Best Dressed

The year’s biggest fashion extravaganza is now officially over. Oscar’s red carpet delivered all of the glitz and excitement that we’ve all come to expect over the years. As per usual, this year the red carpet runway was a showcase for some good old fashioned Hollywood glamour. Here are my picks for the ten the best dressed ladies of the evening.

Portia de Rossi
Actress and girlfriend of Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi looked smoking hot as she walked Oscar’s red carpet runway. She looked like a goddess with her elegant navy Zac Posen gown, with rope details around the halter neck and the back. Did we mention the low-cut back that lead right down to her toned posterior?

Maggie Gyllenhaal
New mom Maggie Gyllenhaal was definitely out to show off her slamming post-baby body. Wearing a snug navy and black gown by designer darlings Proenza Schouler that flattered her newly svelte figure, the actress proved she has what it takes to make a sensational fashion statement on the red carpet.

Rinko Kikuchi
Rinko Kikuchi, who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for Babel, ended her red carpet losing streak on her big night. While she was one of the only actresses that chose black on this year, she made the right choice with this slender, glittering Chanel couture gown that featured a floral motif throughout.

Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman is one of those leading ladies that never disappoints on the Oscar red carpet. She arrived looking like a vision of elegance in her body-hugging, vibrant red Balenciaga gown with giant bow at the neck. On any other actress the dress would not work, but because she’s built like a runway model, she looked striking.

Reese Witherspoon
This dress is what the red carpet is all about. Wearing a show-stopping purple gown, with a ruffled train, by Nina Ricci, the hottest single mother in town stole the red carpet. With a dress like that, all she needed to complete her red carpet look was her bare neck and long gorgeous locks.

Gwyneth Paltrow
Mother-of-two, Gwyneth Paltrow made a splendid return to the red carpet in a fabulous body-hugging coral gown by Zac Posen. The Oscar winner’s entire look, including her pin-straight hair, was pure uptown girl sophistication. And let me just say, mad props to her for pulling off that shade of coral.

Penelope Cruz

First time nominee Penelope Cruz looked like the perfect sweet confection as she brought back a hint of vintage Hollywood glamour. Wearing an elaborate nude coloured Versace gown, that featured a full, ruffled skirt, the actress once again proved why she is considered the red carpet pro. The actress topped off her picture perfect look with a low ballet bun, Chopard diamonds and sexy Jimmy Choo heels.

Kate Winslet
Wearing a pale green Valentino gown Kate Winslet looked incredibly elegant as she floated down Oscar’s red carpet. The one-shouldered dress was the perfect choice for the five-time nominee. Winslet topped off her sophisticated look with a pair of Rickard Shah heels.

Beyoncé Knowles
She may have been snubbed by Oscar, but the diva proved again that she is the queen bee on the red carpet runway. Wearing a flowing sea foam-green Armani Privé gown with beaded detailing across the front, the singer looked absolutely glamorous. There is simply no question about it. Beyoncé definitely makes it to the top yet again.

Cate Blanchett
Best supporting actress nominee Cate Blanchett once again went metallic on the red carpet, turning up in a sparkling gunmetal grey one shouldered gown by Armani Privé. The glittering gown featured jewel detailing on the shoulder and along the bottom of the gown.

Grammy Awards 2007...Comment their Fashion..

Fergie is absolutely glittering in this tin
y little metallic number by Badgley Mischka I love the dress and I must say that her body is smoking! What do you guys think?

Jamie Foxx took a break fr
om his busy touring schedule to make an appearance on the red carpet. Guys have it so much easier than the ladies, but I am not feeling this smoking jacket and buttoned up shirt, although I love the shades Jamie! What do you all think?

I know, I k
now, Paula Abdul is not everyone's favorite these days, but I had to put her up so you guys could tear her apart, right? Kidding, kidding. I actually think she looks good. I like her sparkling Valentino dress. What do you guys think?

Sha
kira looked red hot in her long and stylish Carolina Herrera dress accented with a pretty satin bow. I love that her hair is au natural - but I am a little bit surprised that she didn't consider using any anti-frizz products. Anyone else feel the same way?

You know I love you Mandy Moore, but I am a little confused by your wardrobe decision tonight, you're looking like quite the hippie! This printed floor length gown is washing her out and this belt just makes no sense to me. Her hair is a little disheveled and her jewelry is just off. Hopefully DJ AM is a bigger fan of this outfit than I am. What do you all think?

Wow!
Look at Pink! She looks great, but almost a little too skinny, if you ask me. What do you guys think?

I have never seen Christina look so tan! She is also sans signature red lips, which I think is refreshing. Working it in an Emanuel Ungaro (deep) strapless cream colored gown, I think the blue scalloped lace cups
bring out her baby blues. I quite like it - what about you?

Jennifer Hudson is certainly Queen of The Red Carpet this awards season! I have to say that I liked her Golden Globes look much better, but she looks g
reat here as well. She is wearing a Roberto Cavalli dress and Neil Lane jewelry. What do you think?

Nelly Furtado couldn't look happier, but what is this dress all about? Is she wearing peacock feathers? Too muc
h fringe and much too much gold. We are seeing a trend of curly hair, but I must admit I like her better with sleek straight locks. What do you all think of Nelly's look?

Scarlett Johansson is one
of those lucky ladies with sexy curves and she sure knows how to show them off. Dressed in a lovely and ladylike black Monique Lhuillier cocktail dress, she is a vision of class. How do you guys feel about this look on her?

Carrie Underwood, you look great
! This shinny dress is extremely flattering on her new svelte frame and her diamond earrings are stunning. Good choice on the loose curls and I love her beautiful smile. Clearly I am a fan, but what do you all think?

We are starting to see a trend of neutral hued dresses with a touch of sparkle on the Grammy Red Carpet tonight and Beyonce is a prime example. I think she looks great, much better than at the Gold
en Globes. What do you guys think?

Get ready to swoon ladies! Behold the hottest bachelor right now in a sleek, serene light grey suit and brown tie. I quite like the suit, though it is a bit camouflaged with the back drop. He played it safe - maybe he didn't want to prompt anymore girl fights! What do you all think?

Alyson Hannigan is looking a little bit haggard here, but I love her and her Alessandro Dell'Acqua dress, especially the animal print detail. I am actually a little bit confused about why she is at the Grammys, but like I said, I love her, so I am going with it. What do you guys think?

Mary J. Blige is the belle of the ball tonight, nominated for 8 Grammys; you go girl! Her skin looks flawless and I am loving her neutral floor length Michael Kors dress, but I think she needs a little color on her lips. All in all, she looks like a big winner to me; but what do you all think?

Fashion by Stephanie
Here is a lively fashion sketch I received from Stephanie. This is always a clever technique to have both long and short versions of ideas on the same page, making the sketch have a longer fashion life. The aggressive stances give it a very now feel.

Stephanie lives near Manchester, England in Britain studying fashion, art and design at college. She really enjoys designing clothes for herself and others. She can't wait to get out there and design more for the world! She has already been asked to design some outfits for a company.

Fashion by Jada

Jada Berry is also 17 and lives in California, USA. She loves to design clothes and is inspired by designers such as Vera Wang and Roberto Cavalli.
